Gulmarg is one of the best destinations for snowboarding in Asia. The combination of consistent snowfall, high altitude and varied terrain — from gentle beginner slopes to steep ungroomed powder fields — makes it ideal for riders at every level. The season runs from mid-December to the first week of April, with January and February providing the deepest snow.
Adventure Packers offers snowboarding courses in the same 3, 5, 7 and 10-day formats as our ski courses, taught one on one by a private instructor who specialises in board technique. Board, boots, snow wear and safety gear are included in every course.

Toeside and heelside edge control on a gentle slope, side slipping in both directions, first controlled stops, connecting short traverses.
Connecting heelside and toeside turns, first full run linking turns top to bottom, introduction to the ski lift. Most beginners complete a full intermediate run by end of day three.

The first day is typically harder on a snowboard — falling is more frequent and getting up takes practice. From day two onwards progress tends to accelerate, and most beginners link turns within 3 days.
Mid-January to February is the peak — deepest powder and best off-piste conditions. March suits beginners who prefer milder weather.
